Toy Review : AOE High Octane Bumblebee

Bumblebee is my next favorite character after Optimus Prime.

Let's revisit yet another Bumblebee, this time the High Octane Bumblebee from the "Age of Extinction" movie series. Since no one is interested in this piece, might as well un-MISB it for another quick review. Toys are meant to be played or sold... haha...

Nowadays, it's all about vlogs or YouTube reviews. Blogging is old school but then again, I'm pretty old school too. So, just bear with it...

(front and back of the card/box)

What's included :

Bumblebee figure, 1 missile, instructions (that's all, folks!)

We shall arm Bumblebee now...

Just slot the missile into his blaster

View from the side

View from the back

Now, to transform him from robot to his classic Camaro mode (vehicle / alternate mode)... just Google or YouTube if you want to learn the exact steps, easier that way too.. haha...

Super-charged Camaro mode from all angles : he is still a Chevrolet Camaro, only this time a '67 SS (hence, the letters "SS" on the front side of car)

Matte black body with clear plastic windows

this is how you store his missile

... and back to his robot mode (just reverse the steps)...

Battle mode as he is ready to face the Decepticons!

Side-by-side with DOTM Cyberfire Bumblebee : both are termed deluxe-sized, yet AOE Bumblebee is slightly smaller (figure shrank in size but increased in price!)

... and for him to finally join his brothers, back to where he belongs...

I am home!

A nice piece overall, nothing fanciful... what do you expect from a Bumblebee?

NOTE : anyone out there interested in this piece, please get in touch with me. Till then, till all are one...

MP-2 MP-4 Commander Package

A quick review of a 3rd party accessory package by Artist Toys. Also known as "MP2 Package MP4 Roller Dreams Will Come True" (not exactly sure what dreams will this package fulfill), it contains a roller, a fuel pump and hose; and a rifle. So, if your Masterpiece Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus or Nemesis Prime is missing any of its accessories, this serves as an upgrade or replacement kit for them as well.

(front and back of the box)

Unboxing it now...

yes! I got the silver set...duhhh...

... and after removing the plastic cover...

... let's put the rifle in the hand of Optimus Prime...

... and there we have it, an upgrade for Optimus Prime!

"I'm ready to do battle with the Decepticons!"

Looks like I need to re-arrange my shelf all over again... this time, to accommodate Roller.

Bumblebees to Roller : "you're not yellow!"

I know it's a bit cramped but there is still room for a few more Bees... stay tuned!

Masterpiece Optimus Prime

Not sure how many Masterpiece variations of Optimus Prime are there, with MP-44 being the latest but to me, the numero uno has to be number one where it all began...

I reckon without the first Masterpiece (MP-1) and likely its success, this series will not be where it is today (i.e. a money making proposition... haha).

Unlike its Hasbro counterpart, even back then, it was called Cybertron Commander Convoy and not Optimus Prime.

For the benefit of new fans (those born after MP-10, at least...), a glimpse of how MP-1's box looked like :

(front and back of box)

Got mine from the secondary market. The box wasn't really in good shape, no major dents though, just the standard scuffles at the corners of the box. Prime had a broken smokestack and was missing its energy axe but other than those, all were good.

Really solid as most parts are die-cast

"Check out my Matrix of Leadership"

MP-10 is the other Masterpiece I have in my collection. Not the expensive TakaraTomy one, couldn't get my hands on it then. So, settled for the more affordable Hasbro one. The box may not be as nice as the standard black TakaraTomy one but at least, with this, I can see what's inside.

Hasbro version of MP-10

A review for another day, perhaps?

In the meanwhile, enjoy these MP-10s... seriously didn't know there were so many redecoes. Hmmm...I think "Barney" and "Gold-digger" are missing.

Can someone caption this?

"hey Bee, don't mind me squatting here"

This is what happens when you run out of space for Optimus Prime and he has to share with Bumblebee(s)...

Yellowness rules...

Another one of my favorite color...yellow...besides the normal red and blue (ie. the colors of Optimus Prime). Still no hauls, so what better way to keep my blog running other than reviewing or sharing more old stuff... this time, presenting to you, Optimus Prime's faithful companion : Bumblebee!

Let's see who do we have here? Bumblebees!!! (from left, standing : DOTM Cyberfire BB, TFTM Allsparks BB, TRU ROC BB, TF Gen BB, TFTM Replica BB, DOTM BB accompanied by legend class BBs)

The old and new...

TF Generation Bumblebees (TRU Rage Over Cybertron Bumblebee and 2 TF Gen Cybertronian Bumblebees)

TF Gen Bumblebees in car mode...ROC version looks nicer right?

DOTM BBs posing for the camera...say cheese...

Yellowness hauls part 2...

A continuation of my yellowness hauls...

Finally, got my hands on this bling-bling beauty...Costco exclusive metallic Battle Ops Bumblebee!! I understand that this was a limited edition release...

(credit : google pic)
Not much difference between the normal HFTD Battle Ops Bumblebee and the Costco version - of course the color is different (duhh..), the Costco version comes with a rather 'classier' packaging, with 2 legend class figurines - Bumblebee (also gold in color) and Mudflap...unfortunately for me, the seller lost both...sigh...but doesn't really matter though...hmm, what else? Err...the fingers on the right hand is blue (normal) while it's translucent white for the Costco version, so when it's lighted up, the former is blue while the latter is red.

Both have equal play value in terms of electronics. Just press the autobot insignia - the eyes and front headlamps will lit up. Anyway, some simple shots before it is cabinet bound. In robot mode :

Vehicle mode : don't you just love these metallic colors?

In attack mode : just need to turn the cannons to face the front

LED lighted when buttons are pressed. Sorry for the blurred shot 'coz was trying to juggle between holding the camera and the Bumblebee :P

Latest hauls of yellowness...

Wow...it has been a while since my last post...

Can't help it if I have no hauls since then. I've (in my opinion) completed my Optimus Primes (sure, there are some lines still missing eg. Alternity, Alternator, Robotmasters, Beast to name a few). I'm quitting Megatrons (still left 4 and are on my sell list). Rodimus isn't really my cup of tea (yup, also on my sell list). So, what's else to collect?

The other character which I do have a handful is none other than Bumblebee. Since this one is rather a shelfwarmer in most stores, hmmm....it's a good time to haul some then. More toystores are having their clearance sales, especially on the DOTM line which has bombed big time, relatively speaking to its previous 2 predecessors (TFTM and ROTF).

DOTM Bumblebees are going for "any 3 for RM100" and we have varieties to choose from...from the normal Bumblebee, Movie Exclusive Bumblebee (the one with numbers on its hood), Nitro Bumblebee to Cyberfire Bumblebee (bought this earlier, should have waited...)...wait, there's of course the Target Exclusive Bumblebee (slightly translucent in color and comes with a comic book).

The latest release of Transformers Prime (RID) Bumblebee unfortunately, falls into the same category of shelfwarmer. Having the most pieces in a case of deluxe assortment, its price has dipped recently from retail pricing of RM59.90 to RM30.00...

Coupled with my years-ago haul (Evolution of a Hero), behold - my latest Bumblebees collection...soon, I may need to change my nickname to "opbees" instead...haha
